Ps: It is completely normal that the second monitor is not detected in power saving mode when the connection is part of the nvidia graphics card. Hope this also helps you and many others! # This file was generated by nvidia-prime sudo nano /lib/modprobe.d/nfĪnd comment out the the nvidia-drm modeset option. Open the file in your favorite editor (vim, nano, gedit, etc.). It will not be reset, because prime-select only writes this file when it does not yet exists. You can simply undo the change made by prime-select by commenting out this option. It enables the nvidia-drm modeset option. I discovered that prime-select writes a configuration file which causes the problem. At first the external monitor worked perfectly, but after I switched from power saving mode ( sudo prime-select intel) back to performance mode ( sudo prime-select nvidia), the second monitor was not detected anymore. I recently installed the nvidia-418 driver on my laptop which uses Ubuntu 18.04. I got it working thanks to this mans hint at askubuntu forum: Ubuntu 18. I booted from a live ubuntu usb stick and without external montior it worked normally but with external monitor I got the following error message:Īny ideas how to get the monitor working? During the time it worked and now I have done normal ubuntu software updates where also the bios-firmware has been updated to 1.5.2 (i'm not sure what version i've had before, was the first time i updated firmware after bought, so maybe 1.0.7?). But at home I do not have any dock and with the setup mentioned above the external monitor stopped working. This is because every time our system needs to start a task or a user issues a command, a program is run and one or more processes are generated. I'm using this workstation at work with the TB18DC dock, where 2 external montiors are connected and work properly. 1.Overview Duration 2:00 In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through one of the most important aspects of any operating system, the processes. Now after some time the external montior connected over displayport (displayport to hdmi cable, where the displayport goes into the laptop and the hdmi cable into the monitor) stopped working. You wont succeed to get this running unless you can hack your way around software. Yes, you do: 'screen' IS a special program. Im not trying to use any special programs, not trying to ssh, just want to use screen natively on my bash/Ubuntu console. However, if I choose the non-proprietary "X.org X Server - Nouveau display driver", click apply and reboot, enpass launches just fine from its icon.I'm having a precision 7530 with i7-8850H and NVIDIA Quadro P2000 and using ubuntu 18.04. Any command you use in Ubuntu is bound to fail on Windows Bash Shell. Eventually I get 84 "QQmlComponent: Created graphical object was not placed in the graphics scene." messages followed by a "Killed" message all at once. If you would like to remove gnome-system-monitor and its dependent packages which are no longer needed from Ubuntu, sudo apt-get remove -auto-remove. With the nvidia drivers, if I run enpass using the command line (/opt/enpass/Enpass), nothing appears for a while but I hear my PC fans spin up and can see the "Enpass" process in system monitor. I am running a clean install of ubuntu 20.04.3 directly from their website that I downloaded earlier today, I reinstalled just to try and get enpass working. Hi, I have noticed that enpass (as installed by the instructions on the downloads page) does not open at all if I am running NVIDIA's proprietary drivers (I have tried v470 and v460 both installed via ubuntu's "additional drivers" settings page).
